Рэй Дуглас Брэдбери

Склонность к литературно-журналистской деятельности обнаружилась еще у деда Рэя, издателя газет в штате Иллинойс на рубеже XIX-XX вв. Отец же писателя - Леонард Сполдинг Брэдбери (1890-1957) - работал электромонтером. С будущей своей женой шведкой Эстер Мари Моберг (1888-1966) он познакомился в городке с индейским названием Уокиган, расположенном к северу от Чикаго на берегу озера Мичиган. Молодая небогатая пара не отличалась особой набожностью, зато увлекалась идущим в гору киноискусством. Рэй Дуглас Брэдбери родился 22 августа 1920 г. Второе имя Дуглас было ему дано в честь знаменитого актера немого кинематографа Дугласа Фербенкса. С детства он рос в атмосфере "большой семьи", окруженный любящими и заботливыми родственниками. С тех пор сплоченный круг родных и близких кажется Рэю Брэдбери одной из высших ценностей жизни, а детские годы в Уокигане - зеленеющей весной счастья.
