Actually, I chose English because it’s the global language and it helps me to communicate with people all over the world.

However, it can also get boring without travelling. Actually, my favourite season is autumn because the weather is mild and the trees are beautiful.

I would like to become a journalist. What profession would you like to go into? Why? What skills or knowledge does one need for it? How important for you is your parents’ opinion of your choice?

Personally, I think a person needs strong maths skills, logic, and creativity for this job. Actually, my parents support my choice and their opinion is important to me, but I will follow my own dream.

They say that Russian New Year traditions are unique. How do Russians celebrate the New Year? What are some special New Year dishes? How does your family celebrate the New Year?

In your email you asked me to tell you about how Russians celebrate New Year. Well, we decorate a fir tree, have a big dinner with family, and watch the president’s address at midnight. Personally, I think special dishes include Olivier salad, herring under a fur coat, and tangerines. Actually, my family celebrates with a big feast, exchange gifts, and then watch the fireworks.

I know that the Russian team won The International 10 — world cyber sport championship in 2021. What computer games are most popular with Russian teenagers? How much time do you and your friends spend playing computer games? What else do you use your computer for?

Personally, I spend about 1—2 hours a day playing, but my friends sometimes play much longer. Actually, I also use my computer for studying, watching videos, and chatting with friends.

Most of my friends enjoy reading books in their free time, and I like it too. Is reading a popular hobby with teenagers in Russia? What books do you read in your free time? What book by a Russian writer would you advise me to read in the future, and why this one?

Personally, I read adventure novels and science fiction in my free time. Actually, I would advise you to read «The Master and Margarita» by Bulgakov as it’s magical and gives a unique view of Russia.

I never eat breakfast, just like my mother. Do you have any special eating habits and what are they? What do you usually have for lunch at school? Can you give me the recipe of the dish you often cook yourself?

Personally, I usually have soup or pasta with a salad for lunch at school. Actually, I often cook simple pasta with tomato sauce. I just boil pasta, heat the sauce, mix them, and add some cheese on top. It’s quick and delicious.

All my days, including weekends look almost alike. How do you spend your free time? Where do you usually go with your friends? What do your parents think about your friends?

Personally, when I was a kid, I loved sweets and fast food too. However, now I prefer healthier options like vegetables. Reading books is my favourite pastime. Is reading important to you? Why? How do you like to spend your leisure time? What is your parents’ attitude to your hobbies and interests?

As for me, my plans after school are to study programming at university. I love technology and want to work in IT. Actually, my parents fully support my decision because they want me to be happy.
