Самая младшая из пятерых детей, Нора Робертс родилась в 10 октября 1950 Силвер Спринг, штат Мэриленд. Сейчас она живет в Кидисвилле, Мэриленд. Работала секретарем, с 1979 года - профессиональный писатель, автор современных любовных и детективных романов.. Начинала как автор дамских романов, в последнее время тяготеет к "мейнстриму". Также издавалась под псевдонимом Джей Ди Робб (J.D. Robb). С какой бы стороны ни посмотреть на карьеру Норы Робертс - она поистине оказалась феноменом. Цифры говорят сами за себя.
