Max looked at his food.
Sophie looked at her plate.
«That is awkward,» she thought.
Finally, Max said, «So… how was your math test?»
Sophie looked up.
«It was okay, I think,» she said. «It was a bit difficult.»
«Same,» Max said. «I didn’t understand the last question.»
They both laughed.
The silence was gone.
They started to talk about school, teachers, and homework.
After some time, Sophie felt relaxed.
«I’m glad I sat here,» she thought.
At the end of lunch, Max said, «We can sit together again tomorrow.»
«Yes, that would be nice,» Sophie said.
When Sophie left the cafeteria, she felt better.
Sometimes, awkward moments can turn into something good.

Story
It was Tuesday afternoon. Emma was walking home from school with her friend Lily. The weather was nice, but Emma didn’t feel happy.
«Are you okay?» Lily asked.
«Yeah… I think so,» Emma said, but her voice was quiet.
In class that day, something happened. During a group discussion, their classmate Ben was talking about his idea for a project.
«I think we can make a video,» Ben said. «It will be fun and creative.»
Emma didn’t like the idea. She thought it was too difficult.
«That’s a bad idea,» she said.
The class became quiet.
Ben looked surprised.
«Oh… okay,» he said slowly.
Lily looked at Emma.
Emma suddenly felt uncomfortable. She didn’t want to be rude, but the words came out too quickly.
After class, Ben didn’t talk to her.
Now Emma felt bad.
«I wish I didn’t say that,» she said.
«What do you mean?» Lily asked.
«I was too direct,» Emma said. «I didn’t think before I spoke.»
Lily nodded. «Maybe you should talk to him.»
Emma thought for a moment.
«You’re right,» she said.
The next day at school, Emma saw Ben near the classroom.
«Hi, Ben,» she said.
