The northeastern direction influences joy in the home, finances, and the birth of children (especially the first, fourth, and eighth child).

The ruler of the northeast is the god Shiva. According to Indian mythology, Shiva appears in different forms and represents various possibilities for a person’s development:

BHOLENATH – strong, infantile, and naïve, but not foolish.

NATARAJA – the dancer and the prosperous one. Gives a person peace through mastery.

ARDHANARISHVARA – underwent a spiritual process to become half woman, half man.

KALABHAIRAVA – brings destruction and suffering.

ADIYOGI – the first Guru of those knowledgeable in yoga.

TRIAMBAKA – possessing the third eye for ultimate vision, but intoxicated.

Attributes that symbolize Shiva: meditation, TRISHUL – channels and opportunities for solving life problems; the third eye; the Moon – a symbol of alcoholism; snakes – filtering poisons.

From this it follows that different positions of the northeastern sector in the home contribute to whether a person becomes good and spiritual or low and immoral.

If the northeast is in balance, Jupiter can extend life, give health, quick recovery when a person is sick, and can give hope, cheerfulness, wisdom, luck, humanity, good character, proper judgment, strength to work, success in all areas of life, good social status, respect, morality, income, and advancement in all endeavors.

When there are defects in the northeast of the home, Jupiter will cause the people living in the house to become wasteful, gamblers, overly optimistic without reason, careless, poor, and with low social status. These people will also be misperceived in society; they themselves will rely on others and experience losses as a result; they will worry, think incorrectly, and experience failure.

But these are not the only things that occur because of defects in the northeast. The northeast is the sector of prosperity in all areas of life, and therefore there may also be problems in personal life, in finding a suitable groom or bride.

If the northeastern corner is cut off, it may affect a person’s mental health and cause depression. The same will happen if the northwestern corner or the southeastern corner is extended.

Objects used to correct defects in the northeast will not always help.

To enhance the positive influences of Jupiter, it is recommended to place a vase with yellow flowers in the northeast of the living room. It is also recommended to place a statue of an elephant or a horse in the northeast of the home.

No black design elements may be used in the northeast of any room.

Occupations and careers suitable for the northeastern direction: law, mediation, meditation, yoga, and the study of religions.

Buildings represented by Jupiter: very beautiful and prestigious buildings, legal buildings, religious buildings such as temples, educational institutions, and the like.

Stones represented by Jupiter, which may be used to strengthen the place: topaz, yellow sapphire, amethyst, quartz, mango quartz, purpurite, brazilianite, lapis lazuli, zircon, moldavite, sugilite, pietersite, and others.

Metals represented by Jupiter: gold and platinum.

Plants and flowers represented by Jupiter: grass, large trees, and roses.

Products represented by Jupiter: fruits, sweets, and foods containing fat.

Natural places represented by Jupiter: green and beautiful parks.

Colors symbolizing Jupiter: gold and lilac.

Improving the Influences of Mercury on the Home

In Indian mythology, Mercury is called the prince among the planets. It is considered the planet of intellect and is responsible primarily for memory, knowledge, reason, trade, communication, writing abilities, speaking skills, art, creativity, wit, clarity, philosophy, mathematics, and knowledge of languages.

According to Vastu, Mercury influences the northern direction. Therefore, the north is connected with our progress in career and business. It influences our financial situation, hygiene, upbringing, speech, correspondence with others, and literary activities. The direction is ruled by the god Kubera.

The northern direction strongly influences finances, the health of women, behavior, name, and fame.

If there are defects in the north of the home, Mercury will contribute to arrogance, lying, stuttering, unpleasant speech (a person may even curse or insult). The people living in the home may also talk excessively, behave arrogantly, and forget various things.

If the north is balanced, Mercury can give a person wisdom, the ability to learn, good speech, the strength to argue and defend one’s principles, mastery of languages, excellent memory, the ability to investigate, engage in business, success, speed in work, and good intuition.

Besides the north, Mercury represents the living room, the study room, the balcony, and the guest room within the home.

If there is a place for prayer in the north, the residents of the home will be able to enjoy good earnings.

If the northern living room or the northern entrance area shares a wall with a bedroom, the woman living in the home will earn well.

If such a living room or entrance has ventilation problems and is dark, money may come from illegal sources or through deception. It is important to fix ventilation issues and ensure good lighting throughout the home.
