B. Weather report for aviation

Providing aviators with the accurate weather forecast is highly important for improving safety and achieving money savings in aerodrome operations today. Let`s present samples of the weather report for aircrafts.

Weather conditions on the route from Anadyr to Moscow are expected to be favorable with some insignificant obstacles. The cyclone, according to data of barric topography, is tracked up to the altitude of the 4 km in Magadan region. It is displacing north—east with the speed of 50km/h. Later on the cyclone will change the trajectory of moving. Cloud bases will be lowering to 1km rapidly. Probability of thunderstorm is low.

Further on the route (on the territory of Yakutia) feeble icing in cloud is expected. In the second half of the route severe turbulence in surface layer is possible. A cold front over the middle band is shown on 12 UTC surface chart. It is recommended not to cross cold front zone, to fly above clouds at the distance not lower than 1000m from CB tops. It is preceded by a narrow belt of heavy rain.

At the end of the route, in Moscow, it is clear and calm. The temperature is between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius.

С. Weather reports from the boards of the airlines (Part 1)

Weather observers on the ground cannot always determine weather conditions at altitude. The weather service and air traffic control service always ask pilots to provide reports on weather phenomena aloft. So the aviation weather reports are gathered and sent hourly.

The reports greatly help in control of air traffic and in advising pilots of prevailing conditions. This is especially useful when unforecast weather develops between reporting stations or over remote regions.

Although pilots are not trained weather observers they usually are at the right place at the right time to see the weather as it occurs and changes. If a pilot observes weather that looks hazardous, to other pilots in the vicinity, it should be reported to the nearest flight service station.
