Śrī Dhūmāvatī-tantra

The Śrī Dhūmāvatī-tantra is a complete Śākta scripture set in a living dialogue: Maharṣi Viṣṇu asks, and Śrī Dhūmāvatī answers. From the Mother's mouth it unfolds the whole path of Her worship: how the mantra is drawn forth and set within the body; how nyāsa and dhyāna are formed; how the yantra is traced and brought to life; how the inner and outer pūjā, the fire-offering, japa and puraścaraṇa are performed; the teacher, the initiation and the kula; the six acts and the limit of responsibility; the protecting kavaca. Separate patalas give the aṣṭaka and the Hundred-and-Eight and Thousand-and-Eight Names of the Goddess, with ready formulas of worship.
Each mantra is given in three layers — the Sanskrit in Devanāgarī, its IAST transliteration, and the English rendering — so that it may be understood and correctly pronounced.
This is not a retelling or an anthology but a root text: a working book for reading, remembrance and practice. Prepared under the editorship of Anatoly Romashkov.
